In fact, it has been talked about for a long time and here it is that after the recent opening of the Italian Region in Milan, AWS has announced that Switzerland will also be home to a dedicated Region, to be precise Zurich will be the first Region Cloud in Switzerland. This long-awaited announcement brings the total number of global regions in operation and in the works to 27.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A very ambitious operation considering that Zurich is the second largest city in Switzerland and one of the largest financial centers in the world. In fact, the city is home to numerous financial institutions and banking giants, as well as most of the country&#8217;s research and development centers.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"et_pb_button_module_wrapper et_pb_button_44_wrapper et_pb_button_alignment_center et_pb_module \">\n\t\t\t\t<a class=\"et_pb_button et_pb_button_44 et_animated et_pb_bg_layout_light\" href=\"https:\/\/www.infrastructure.aws\/\" target=\"_blank\">Check out the interactive map now<\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<div class=\"et_pb_module et_pb_text et_pb_text_607  et_pb_text_align_left et_pb_bg_layout_light\">\n<div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\">\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;For more than 14 years, AWS has supported organizations across nearly every industry in Switzerland to accelerate innovation, reduce IT costs, and transform their operations,&#8221; said Peter DeSantis, Senior Vice President of Global Infrastructure and Customer Support, Amazon Web Services, Inc.  innovative startups and the world&#8217;s leading pharmaceutical companies to deliver cloud-based applications to fuel economic development across the country.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AWS&#8217; excellent newcomer will open in the second half of 2022 with three Availability Zones and will give developers, startups, and enterprises, as well as government, educational, and nonprofit entities the ability to run their applications and serve end users from data centers located in Switzerland.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is great news considering that many Swiss companies were among the first to adopt cloud services in Europe when AWS was launched in 2006.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Well, now the Seattle giant arrives to activate the eighth European Region, which joins the existing ones of Dublin, Frankfurt, London, Paris, Stockholm, Milan and the one announced in Spain.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"et_pb_module et_pb_text et_pb_text_608  et_pb_text_align_left et_pb_bg_layout_light\">\n<div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\">\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As usual, the new AWS Zurich Region will comprise three geographically separated Availability Zones, i.e. data centers.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Seattle-based giant&#8217;s balance sheet is not bad at all considering that, currently, the company manages a global portfolio of 77 Availability Zones in 24 geographic regions with announced plans for an additional 12 Availability Zones and four additional AWS Regions in Switzerland, Indonesia, Japan, and Spain.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With the Swiss location, the total number of global regions rises to 27 The long-awaited news has finally arrived.
